As part of EPNE, a SEND Centre for Excellence, we are now delivering a range of programmes reflecting the 'People' theme of the Education Training Foundation (ETF) SEND Centres for Excellence, which prioritises developing staff confidence, skills, and resilience in meeting the needs of diverse learners.
The sessions are designed for a wide audience across Further Education settings, including teachers, curriculum managers, leaders, governors, support staff, and pastoral teams.
Our Second session: Working with Parents, Carers, and Families (19th November) is now open to book.
This delivery plan sets out a structured programme of six professional development sessions designed to strengthen inclusive practice across post-16 education, with a focus on supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Each session has been aligned with the ETF Professional Standards to ensure that provision is underpinned by national expectations for teaching and learning.
This session introduces trauma-informed practice (TIP) as a framework for embedding inclusive teaching and leadership.
This session will provide participants with practical tools to strengthen engagement and communication with families.
This session explores how leaders can embed inclusive values into decision-making, policy, and organisational culture.
Working with learners with complex needs can be emotionally demanding. This session addresses the wellbeing of staff, ensuring they can sustain effective practice while maintaining personal resilience.
This session focuses on autism and its impact on learners in FE settings. Staff will explore how autistic learners may experience differences in communication, sensory processing, social interaction, and executive functioning.
This session emphasises practical, human-centred approaches to supporting learners with SEND. Participants will explore strategies to build strong relationships, adapt teaching to individual needs, and foster learner engagement while maintaining wellbeing for both learners and staff.
