Education Partnership Northeast (EPNE) has appointed Lee Lister as Northumberland College’s Kirkley Hall Campus Principal.
In his previous role as Vice Principal, Lee has overseen a transformational journey at Kirkley Hall with major capital investments including a specialist new build for young people with SEND, an equine centre of excellence, new veterinary science labs and agricultural engineering training facilities.
As well as being the EPNE strategic lead for land-based education at the campus – the top performing nationally for student achievement – he also leads EPNE’s award-winning SEND provision.
On his appointment Lee said: “I am delighted with the opportunity to continue the significant improvement work seen at this unique and special campus.
“Being the most northerly land-based college in England, serving its rural communities to ensure the next generation of specialist skills are delivered, is both exciting and a privilege.
“I am looking forward to further connecting and collaborating with employers and sector leads to provide the campus and its students with the right skills, progressive development and employment opportunities which also meet the needs of the region.”
Lee has worked in the Further Education sector for 34 years, primarily in the Yorkshire and Humber region and now in the North East, he graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a BA (Hons) in Education. He also holds a CMI Level 8 in Strategic Management and Leadership.
His background and experience in SEND support the college’s strategic development and commitment to provide outstanding tailored education and support for all students with additional learning needs.
His focus on equity and inclusion ensures that all students have the opportunity to progress and be successful into adulthood, especially into employment, which is a national challenge for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Ellen Thinnesen, Chief Executive Officer at EPNE, said: “I am delighted Lee has become Kirkley Hall’s Campus Principal for Northumberland College.
“As Campus Principal, Lee will be responsible for overseeing the on-campus experience of all campus students, apprentices, staff and visitors, requiring him to work closely with group leads responsible for EPNE services.”
