Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health First Aid & Advocacy

No previous knowledge or experience is required to enrol on this course.

You will require a minimum Level 1 English skills to complete assessments.

Once enrolled, you will be added to our Equal platform, where you will be able to access all the learning resources and assessments to complete.

You will be invited to attend a attend a virtual learning session, where a tutor will explain how to navigate the Equal platform, as well as providing key points on the content required to pass each unit of the course.

All students will be allocated their own personal tutor who they will be in contact with throughout their studies. You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. Your personal tutor will then assess your work and provide you with constructive feedback for each unit. You will have the opportunity to discuss your feedback in a personal 1-1 with your tutor.

This course will require you to be able to work at Level 1/2 in Functional Skills (Maths and English). If you require additional support, we can arrange this for you.

This is a 12 week, virtual learning course.

You will be required to attend a virtually taught session for each unit, whilst working independently in your own time to complete the assessments. Support is available via our online resources and you will also be assigned an individual tutorto support you.

Assessment submission dates are evenly scheduled throughout the 12 weeks. You are advised to allocate dedicated time each week for completion of the course.

You will also be asked to attend virtual 1-1 sessions after each unit is complete. If required, you can request additional 1-1 support sessions which can be arranged with your tutor.

Throughout this course, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of mental health and mental illness, to to help enable you to recognise and identify signs and symptoms of common mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression.

This includes learning how to offer initial support and guidance to individuals experiencing mental health problems, as well understanding the role of advocacy in mental health and the creation of a supportive environment.

Learn about the legal and ethical aspects of mental health support in the workplace, and how to develop strategies to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health issues.
